We planned this long ago, the 4 of us Heidi, Pearl, Vicnes and me, to go to M'sia and shop before term starts. We did anyway, on monday, and planned to stay over at someone's house before going to the airport on tuesday morning to send May off. I couldn't stay tho, cuz i was working the next day. So nevertheless, we agreed to meet each other at Kranji MRT at 10am on monday. Either Pearl's watch has got a problem or she doesn't know how to tell the time cuz she arrived at 10.35; 35mins late. She got a friendly scolding from Vic for that.
Upon entering M'sia, we immediately realized something exceptionally different from S'pore. Here in S'pore, we try so hard to flag cabs. Most of the time either there're on call or busy. Sometimes even when the cab's empty, the cabbies dun stop. In M'sia, the situation is totally different. Right out of the M'sian customs, we were swarmed by M'sian cabbies offering best rates to different places. Too bad the place we were going to could be gone on foot. Too many cabs in M'sia, too few cabs in S'pore. The place we went to was the one closest to the customs called CitySquare. The place was quite a spread; very S'porean. haha.. We ate at this vivo restaurant which served mostly Italian food. The prices were identical as the prices in S'pore restaurants only that they were in Ringgit. Their Nike shirts were also cheaper but I didn't have a mind to purchase much of their products for fear that I brought it home and found defects, it'll be so much trouble to exchange it. We walked ard doing mostly window shopping. Nothing nice worht buying. So we tot of catching a movie to kill time. The prices were incredulous. $9 in S'pore. 9rm in M'sia. Next time I wouldn't mind the hussle to watch a movie in Malaysia. Bloody cheap! We chose The Red Shoes, a show Heidi tried so hard to dissuade us to watch. She's scared of such shows. I admit I get scared during the movies but I kinda like the feeling of covering my eyes leaving them partially open so in case the scary part comes i can cover my eyes with ease. After the movie we decided to grab our last stuffs we want to buy and get the hell outta M'sia. I bought tidbits and a box of chewing gum only for it to be confiscated at the S'pore customs. S.H.I.T. It was really embarrassing to be stopped by the police and get my bag emptied for a box of chewing gum. I was quite sore about my chewing gum being confiscated. I felt like a schoolkid bringing a toy to school only to let the teacher know about it and take it away.
Anyway, before the trip I was rather scared of being robbed. Maybe my box of chewing gum being taken away is a lesser price to pay than to get robbed.
